Self-Help Housing offers a unique opportunity for *first time home buyers
with a moderate income to fulfill their dreams of owning their own home.
Our standard homes are 3 or 4
bedrooms, one and one-half or two baths and an attached two-car garage.
Families who qualify work
together to build a group of 7 to 10 homes per project. The self-help method requires a
definite commitment of family time and energy from
participants. This is an important responsibility. Each family is required to work a minimum of 30 hours
per week for approximately 12 to 15 months to complete the project.
Self-Help Housing projects are
now available in Lewis, Cowlitz and Clark County. Finance is provided by
USDA Rural Development and
local lending institutions.
